Old age is similar to being a child again.

Elderly aim for long, healthy lives, but face challenges due to physical, Psychological, and social issues, impacting their self-care independence.

There are some very common Geriatric syndromes like cognitive impairment, functional impairment, and impaired mobility. Physical disorders of the old age like; Diabetes, High blood pressure, indigestion, loss of appetite, constipation, sleep disorder, cough, asthma, osteoporosis, arthritis, paralysis, prostate enlargement, cataract,  glaucoma,  hearing problems,  menopause in women etc. and also some rare diseases like Parkinson’s, Alzheimer and cancer, Psychological involvement like Depression, loneliness whose severity increases with age.

Ayurveda has an excellent approach towards healthy aging.

Herbal Remedies

Ayurveda employs various herbs and herbal formulations to cure Geriatric syndromes and disorders. Medicinal plants like Ashwagandha, Guduchi, Shatavari, Amalaki, Bramhi, Tulsi etc. are widely used in geriatric treatment.

Panchakarma along with Gentle Massage and Fomentation (Mrudu Snehan and Swedan), Shirodhara, Netratarpan, Karnapuran, Lymph drainage massage, Shashtika Pinda Swed, Churna Pinda Swed etc.are support the geriatric care

Rasayan chikitsa

 Aging is a natural and inevitable phenomenon. The changes of aging are to be controlled in a systematic manner with the help of Rasayana. As it helps to delay the process of aging one should start Rasayana chikitsa from middle-age or before the advanced stages of one’s life.

Rasayana drugs are a group of medicinal preparations which promote the defense mechanism of the body by increasing immunity. Rasayana also normalizes metabolism, manage the chronic illnesses, helps in the formation of good qualities of tissues, maintains good digestion, relives constipation, improves physical strength, improves cardiac health, improves mental capacities and prolongs life. Rasayana also has the pharmacological properties like Anti-stress, Anti- depressant, Anti-anxiety, Immune-modulation, and antioxidant.

There are many reason behind this but common are Deterioration of health, loneliness due to loss of key support, like death of spouse.
